Rebar social stocks slump while in-plant inventories rebound

China's in-plant inventories of rebar rebounded on the week that ended Thursday Sep 20 after two weeks of decline

SHANGHAI, Sep 20 (SMM) – China's in-plant inventories of rebar rebounded on the week that ended Thursday September 20 after two weeks of decline, SMM data showed. Social stocks of rebar, however, fell sharply on the week. 

Inventories across steel mills stood at 1.75 million mt as of September 20, up 1.7% from a week ago but down 27.1% from a year ago. Social stocks shrank 4.3% on the week and dipped 12.2% on the year to stand at 4.22 million mt as of Thursday.

Overall inventories, including social and in-plant stocks, decreased to 5.97 million mt as of Thursday, down 2.6% on the week and down 17.2% on the year.
